The Research Centre on Interactive Media, Smart Systems and Emerging Technologies(RISE) and the KIOS Center of Excellence for Research and Innovation have been commissioned by the Ministry of Health and the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy of the Republic of Cyprus with the coordination of the National eHealth Authority to develop on a voluntary basis the Cyprus National Covid-19 contact tracing application for mobile devices and associated backend/database server under the CovTracer Exposure Notification project (CovTracer-EN, in short CTEN).
The CTEN consortium was formed in June 2020 and the CTEN project was officially launched in July 1st, 2020. A working prototype of the CTEN application will be delivered and tested in two (2) small-scale pilots by the end of October 2020, while the national rollout including connectivity with the European Federation Gateway Service (EFGS) is planned in January 2021. The objective of this grant application is to receive support for a number of activities, which are detailed below in the description of the action part, related to the connection of the CTEN backend to the EFGS as well as awareness raising activities for the public regarding the value and benefits of cross-border interoperability of contact tracing apps through the EFGS.
