On May 8, 2025, CYENS Centre of Excellence had the honour of welcoming President Konstantinos Tasoulas of the Hellenic Republic during his first official visit to Cyprus. Accompanied by President Nikos Christodoulides and Mayor of Nicosia Charalambos Prountzos, the delegation was introduced to CYENS’ mission at the intersection of research, innovation, and cultural heritage.
A key highlight of the visit was the presentation of Nemata—a powerful interactive installation commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1974 events in Cyprus. Led by CYENS Director Yiorgos Chrysanthou and Head of Innovation Styliani Petroudi, the project invites refugees to trace their personal stories through the act of threading, weaving together themes of loss, resilience, and collective memory.
The visit underscored CYENS’ identity as a human-centric innovation hub, where technological excellence serves deeper purposes: remembrance, social connection, and cultural preservation.
