“Gaming and Artificial Intelligence” RISE Summer Scholars Program

RISE is pleased to announce a unique summer opportunity for high-school students interested in game development and artificial intelligence. In this week-long program, selected Summer Scholars will be exposed to the lively ecosystem of academics, researchers, creators and innovators, that RISE has created in the heart of Nicosia. Participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts and be introduced to the latest methods and techniques in fields as exciting and diverse as artificial intelligence, visual sociology, computational cognition and ethics in AI. The Summer Scholars Program falls within the scope of RISE’s efforts to inspire talented young students in Cyprus to follow careers in interactive media, smart systems and emerging technologies by exposing them to cutting-edge methods in these areas.

Specifically, RISE’s Gaming and AI Program will offer hands-on experience in coding, game design and development, computer graphics and artificial intelligence—with the aim of providing a basic understanding of the various aspects of game development and AI. Scholars will learn common elements of game development such as 2D and 3D graphics, animation, audio and collision handling while also learning how artificial intelligence techniques can be applied in a game environment. The course will be organized into two complementary modules—game development in UNITY and game exploration using AI. Additional topics will include AI ethics, innovation, entrepreneurship and the role of multidisciplinary teams.
