In the context of actions for tourism development of the countryside, mountainous and border areas of Cyprus, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism created the electronic application “Dragons of the Heartland” which is a discovery game using augmented reality. Use the app and discover “digital dragons” hidden in the villages of “Heartland of Legends”, the experiential route that brings visitors in contact with Cypriot nature, tradition and the Cypriot way of life.
The project was implemented in collaboration with the CYENS Centre of Excellence and the Hambis Museum of Engraving and was co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund, while the designs and “dragons” are inspired by the unique works of Cypriot engraver Hambis Tsangaris, winner of the European Cultural Heritage Award (Europa Nostra Awards).
