Gaea
The Gaea tool was developed by the SuPerWorld research group of the CYENS Center of Excellence. Few services (detection of swimming pools, tree counting, building area estimation, PV4ALL tool) were empowered by PERIOPSIS, which constitutes a spin-off start-up company of CYENS.
Gaea’s Geospatial Application is a comprehensive and versatile platform that offers a range of essential tools for analyzing and understanding geographic data. With its three main services – Proximity General Service, Land Cover Service, and GeoHazard Service – users can gain valuable insights into spatial relationships, land composition, and potential hazards within specified areas on the Cyprus Map.
The Proximity General Service is a valuable decision support tool that enables users to assess the distance between a chosen location and various points of interest. Whether it’s amenities, natural features, infrastructure, or recreational facilities, users can customize their criteria to precisely measure proximity. This information is invaluable for real estate developers, urban planners, and environmental analysts, aiding them in making well-informed decisions and optimizing their planning processes.
The Land Cover Service, on the other hand, provides users with a detailed analysis of the land’s composition within a designated area. By utilizing advanced algorithms and satellite imagery, the service accurately detects and classifies different land cover categories, including vegetation, water bodies, urban areas, and more. This comprehensive information benefits diverse sectors, from environmental researchers and urban planners to real estate developers, supporting sustainable development and conservation efforts.
The GeoHazard Service equips users with crucial information to assess various geohazards within specific areas on the Cyprus Map. With subservices that cover seismic risks, subsidence risks, burned areas, flood risk, geo-suitability zones, wildfire risk, and landslide risks, the service empowers individuals and organizations to make informed decisions and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety of communities and projects.
Gaea’s Geospatial Application is designed to be user-friendly, catering to both GIS experts and non-experts. The intuitive interface allows users to select points or draw polygons on the map, swiftly accessing relevant data from the chosen subservice with the click of a button. This seamless integration of geospatial tools makes the application a valuable resource for various industries and sectors.
In conclusion, Gaea’s Geospatial Application provides users with a powerful and comprehensive set of tools for analyzing geospatial data in Cyprus. With its focus on proximity analysis, land cover characterization, and geohazard assessment, the application serves as an invaluable resource for making informed decisions, planning sustainable projects, and understanding the dynamic relationships between locations and their surrounding features. Whether it’s supporting urban growth, conserving natural resources, or assessing potential risks, Gaea’s Geospatial Application empowers users to harness the power of geographic information for a wide range of applications.
