From observation to participation: when art becomes experience

On the occasion of his participation in the exhibition “Agropoetics: soils/bodies” at the Museum of Modern & Contemporary Art – SPEL Building, artist Stefanos Papadas speaks to Politis in an interview conducted by Maria Georgiou about his immersive installation Echoes of Soil and the evolving relationship between Art, Technology, and Experience.

Part of the cultural programme of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the European Union 2026, the exhibition is organised by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture in collaboration with CYENS Centre of Excellence.

In the interview, Stefanos reflects on Generative and Immersive Art, exploring how audiences move beyond passive observation into active participation — where landscape is no longer simply viewed, but experienced through memory and presence.
