CYENS and CyBC Sign MoU to Advance Cultural Innovation through AI

On Tuesday, 8 July 2025, CYENS Centre of Excellence and the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation (CyBC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking the beginning of a strategic partnership to promote education, research, and cultural innovation.

The collaboration will focus on leveraging emerging technologies Artificial Intelligence to enhance and preserve Cyprus’ audiovisual heritage, starting with CyBC’s “Digital Herodotus” archive. The first joint milestone is the development of a system to subtitle the Cypriot dialect into Modern Greek, enhancing accessibility and comprehension for wider audiences.

Representing CYENS at the signing were Professor Yiorgos Chrysanthou, Director of CYENS, and Andreas Panayides, who will be leading technical collaboration on the project.

This partnership reflects CYENS’ commitment to using human-centered technologies to connect people with culture in new and meaningful ways.
