CYENS and GRAWE Cyprus Sign MoU to Launch the Cyprus Trees Initiative

CYENS Centre of Excellence and GRAWE Cyprus have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch the Cyprus Trees Initiative, a pioneering digital platform dedicated to the monitoring, validation, and promotion of tree planting and environmental restoration efforts across Cyprus.

The Cyprus Trees Initiative leverages state-of-the-art technologies developed at CYENS, including artificial intelligence–driven analytics, IoT-based environmental sensing, and satellite data integration. These technologies enable accurate and transparent monitoring of planted trees, their health and growth, and their contribution to carbon offsetting, supporting evidence-based environmental action.

This collaboration exemplifies the potential of public–private–people partnerships in addressing environmental challenges. By combining corporate sustainability leadership with cutting-edge research and innovation, CYENS and GRAWE Cyprus are working toward a smarter, greener, and more resilient future for Cyprus.

The collaboration is led by Panayiotis Panayiotou, CEO of GRAWE Cyprus, Yiorgos Chrysanthou, Director of CYENS, and Vasos Vassiliou, Team Leader of the Smart Networked Systems MRG. Their joint leadership highlights the strength of cross-sector partnerships in advancing sustainability, transparency, and innovation-driven environmental impact.
