CYENS Centre of Excellence is a leading Research and Innovation hub specializing in Interactive Media, Smart Systems, and Emerging Technologies. As the only organization in Cyprus dedicated to immersive technologies, it plays a vital role in advancing knowledge and facilitating technology transfer across the region. CYENS Centre of Excellence and EOA Nicosia have signed a Memorandum of UResearchers from the Extended Experiences (EX) group represented CYENS Centre of Excellence at UnitedXR Europe 2025, held from 8 to 10 December 2025 in Brussels.

During the conference, Fotis Liarokapis, Research Director at CYENS, presented key insights and results from the XR4ED EU project—an initiative advancing immersive learning through extended reality (XR) technologies, AI-driven tools, and the development of an open pan-European marketplace for educators.

Marios Constantinides, Senior Research Scientist at CYENS, delivered a talk on responsible AI in extended reality, addressing ethical considerations, potential risks, and the responsibilities involved in integrating AI into educational XR applications.

CYENS also showcased the XR4ED project through a dedicated booth, engaging with visitors, partners, and members of the wider XR community on how immersive technologies and artificial intelligence can support inclusive, responsible, and future-oriented education.

The participation at UnitedXR Europe 2025 reinforced CYENS’ role in shaping the European dialogue on immersive technologies, AI, and education.
