CYENS Showcases “Lost Spaces” at BOZAR as Part of Cyprus’ EU Presidency Cultural Programme

CYENS Centre of Excellence is contributing to the official Cultural Programme of the Cyprus Presidency of the Council of the EU 2026 through its participation in “Focus on Cyprus: Immersion in Contemporary Cypriot Art”, hosted at the BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels.

As part of this two-month programme celebrating contemporary Cypriot artistic expression, CYENS presents “Lost Spaces”, an immersive virtual reality exhibition developed by the ITICA/MUSEUM LAB research team. The exhibition explores Lefkosia’s buffer zone through personal memories and lived experiences, offering visitors a deeply human perspective on the city’s divided landscape.

Through the use of extended reality (XR) technologies, Lost Spaces reflects on themes including memory and identity, urban division and transformation, and the role of technology in cultural storytelling. By combining cultural heritage with immersive technologies, the project demonstrates new approaches to experiencing and interpreting complex histories.

Presented at the heart of Europe’s cultural and political dialogue, the exhibition highlights the role of research and innovation in shaping meaningful narratives about Cyprus’ past, present, and future.

The exhibition was open to the public at BOZAR until 19 April 2026.
