Marios Thoma

Marios Thoma is a Research Associate at the Cognitive Artificial Intelligence and Robotics (CAIR) Research Group at the CYENS Centre of Excellence, specializing in Neural-Symbolic AI, that aims to enhance the robustness and explainability of Artificial Intelligence Systems. He has contributed to the PEDESTRIAN project at CYENS, developing an Egocentric-vision image dataset that aims to improve Pedestrian safety, and created a Computer Vision cross-platform app for the State Gallery of Contemporary Art in Nicosia. Previously, he worked at the Computational Cognition Lab at the Open University of Cyprus (OUC) on the MARI-Sense project, focusing on Expert Systems with Neural-Symbolic AI. Marios holds a B.Sc. in Biology from Newcastle University, UK, and a Joint M.Sc. in Cognitive Systems from OUC and the University of Cyprus. He is currently pursuing a PhD at OUC under Dr. Loizos Michael, exploring the intersection of Neural-Symbolic Integration, Biology, and Evolution.
