CYENS Centre of Excellence is a leading Research and Innovation hub specializing in Interactive Media, Smart Systems, and Emerging Technologies. As the only organization in Cyprus dedicated to immersive technologies, it plays a vital role in advancing knowledge and facilitating technology transfer across the region. This Centre is the result of a unique collaboration between three public universities—the University of Cyprus, the Cyprus University of Technology.

What we do

The Research Support (RO) at CYENS Centre of Excellence serves as a central hub for facilitating and enhancing the research activities of the Centre’s research community. Our mission is to provide comprehensive administrative, technical, and strategic support throughout the research lifecycle, empowering researchers to focus on innovation and scientific excellence.

The RO is committed to fostering an environment that enables world-class research aligned with CYENS’s goals of driving interdisciplinary collaboration, securing competitive funding, and producing impactful results. By acting as a bridge between researchers, funding bodies, and external stakeholders, the RO plays a vital role in ensuring that CYENS remains at the forefront of research and innovation.

Key Services

Research Engagement

Identifying funding opportunities at local, national, and international levels (monitor call openings, screening calls for MRG suitability, disseminating calls to MRGs)
Participation in call related info days, online presentations and other relevant events
Networking and collaboration building (meeting with organisations interested in collaborations, liaising with relevant MRGs)

Research Administration

Participation in various Centre’s committees
Publications Management
Coordinating institutional ethical approvals and providing guidance on research practices
Managing research policies and processes to maintain high standards of integrity and accountability
Providing centralized support for research documentation, forms, and internal approvals

Project Management Services

Based on your overall requirements and available budget, we can provide a variety of services integrated into your project budget throughout the entire project lifecycle.

Support Grant Agreement development (review grant agreement, review consortium agreement, prepare administrative document and collect signatures)
Obtain Bioethics approval when required
Procurement management when required
Review or support the preparation of technical plans (i.e. IPR/Data management plan, Communication/Dissemination plan, Exploitation plan, project handbook etc.)
Tracking project personnel allocation
Project resources management and tracking

Supporting the project Financial reporting (Collecting financial information, preparation of timesheets, uploading financial information on ECAS/IRIS platforms, submission of additional information)
Supporting the hiring of project personnel
Participation in project meetings ((upon time availability)

Providing expert advice and troubleshooting

Proposal Management Services

Facilitating consortium building through the RO network and online partner searchers
Providing Administrative information necessary for proposal writing (Letters of support, cooperation agreements, PIFs etc.
Monitoring the Proposal Submission Procedure (Collecting and reviewing ‘proposal information forms’, obtaining approvals from the Executive Committee, updating the Centre’s ‘Proposal Database’
Offering tailored guidance for grant proposal development, budget preparation, and compliance with funding agency requirements
Organising and delivering workshops/trainings for specific calls and proposal preparation in general.
Providing assistance with structuring, editing and targeting the Excellence, Impact and Implementation sections on the proposal template (upon time availability)
Proposal Review: an initial check of the proposal (for relevance to the work programme, management structure and intellectual property matters, costs and general finance) and/or a final pre-submission check (upon time availability)
