Location
St. Nicholas Cathedral, Famagusta
CYENS Centre of Excellence has taken an important first step in a landmark cultural heritage initiative with the 3D digitalization of the St. Nicholas Gothic Cathedral (Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque) in Famagusta. This project, led by Dr. Marina Toumpouri, is carried out in collaboration with the UNDP and the MASDER Association of Famagusta, and is proudly funded by the French Embassy in Cyprus.
The digital preservation effort highlights CYENS’ commitment to safeguarding Cyprus’ shared cultural heritage through advanced technologies. Special recognition goes to our technical team Doruk Akal, Cise Tunccag, and Andreas Kopriva Lernis as well as Serdar Atai and Shaziye Mehmet, whose coordination was essential to the success of this collaborative endeavor.
This is just the beginning. As the project progresses, we look forward to unveiling new ways in which digital tools can honor the past while educating for the future.
