TRAC is a one year institutional pilot project to introduce a responsible research assessment process

aligned with the CoARA Agreement and guided by the SCOPE framework. As a pioneering Centre of Excellence in Cyprus, CYENS will become a regional leader in institutionalising values-led, context-sensitive, and evidence informed research evaluation.  The reform will foreground institutional values such as inclusivity, innovation, interdisciplinarity, and societal impact.

This institutional pilot is designed to accelerate tangible and sustainable change in CYENS’ research assessment culture, processes, and institutional procedures. By embedding the SCOPE framework and integrating tools from CoARA’s Annex 4, the project will provide a scalable, adaptable model for organisational reform within the broader ERA.

In addition to the SCOPE approach, CYENS will implement several tools and practices of the CoARA Framework. This includes piloting narrative CV formats, incorporating responsible metrics guidance, and

applying structured peer-review rubrics developed by CoARA WGs. These elements will support systemic reform while also enabling comparability and knowledge exchange across institutions.

The initiative will co-design, pilot, and embed a revised assessment framework that recognises diverse research contributions, prioritises qualitative peer review, and promotes responsible use of metrics. Outcomes will include an institutional framework, updated policies, narrative CV templates, and a public dissemination campaign.
